There is so much to say and explain, but I do not have it in me. Typing it is like reliving it.
I know you need to know how he is doing, so forgive me for not posting a lot of detail, but here is a status update.
Wayne is suffering from neurotoxicity. It is a side effect of Ifex (chemo). He is in the hospital and they are trying to correct it. He hasn't been able to walk, has limited speech capabilities, and has uncontrollable jerks.
Each day he should get a little bit better. Yesterday was his last day of treatment, I we are all hoping and praying that he recovers soon.
It is scary but he is being so brave. He is a fighter and I KNOW he will be okay. The process of getting there is horrific, but if anyone can do this, it is him.
Please keep him in your prayers.

Val and Wayne,
ReplyDeleteI know you don't know me, but I am Brittney Geis' next door neighbor. She shared your blog with me, and asked for prayers for Wayne. Just want you to know that I am praying for you and hope that you have success with your chemo. Keep fighting!!!

Oh, Val. I am so sorry you are going through this. I wish I could come comfort you and help in some way. Please say strong. We are all praying and praying and praying more. It will not be long and this will all be behind you.
ReplyDeleteHolding your hand in thought and heart,

Rapid City CCI is sending all of our prayers your way. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteDear Val,
ReplyDeleteWe have never met, but our husband's graduated from highschool together. Jay found Wayne on facebook and through friends found your blog. We read it each day to see how you are doing and to know how to pray for you and your family. I belong to a MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers). I am on the steering team and you are on our prayer chain. We prayed for you yesterday morning. We have a son who is 6 and a daughter who is 1. So our families are simaliar. I have found through my own struggles to seek the Lord with all I have because at times that is all I have had. I encourage you to cry out to him for yourself and for your family.
In our MOPS group the kids have been memorizing Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and couragous. Do not be terrified, for the Lord your God is with you where ever you go." He is with you and he IS with Wayne. I pray as you are in this very scary place that you will know that and feel that with out a doubt.
As I have read your blog I have found your optimism and strength to be so amazing. You seem like a delightful woman who deeply loves her husband and her children. They are blessed beyond measure to have you as their pilar of strength.
God Bless you and keep you. We will continue to cry out to the Lord on your behalf. I pray for comfort and peace for you and for Wayne and that he comes through this quickly, safely and very protected.
In God's Grace,
Jenny Siedschlaw

ReplyDeleteVal,
ReplyDeleteI feel so badly that this round of chemo has hit Wayne so horribly. It is apparent that he IS a fighter and he WILL make it through this round with as much victory as the first! Your family is always in my heart and I send lots of love and energy and prayers your way.
I wish I could help you and offer more comfort than just words. Please know that I think you are an amazing woman, mom, and wife. Please try and get some rest and let Wayne know that we are all thinking of him.
Blessings,
Cat
