Koop Family Visit
Dave, Donna, and Nikki were all here last week/weekend. I hope they weren't bored - we did alot of visiting, cooking, and hanging out. Maybe next time we'll be ready to take them into the mountains and do some sight seeing. It was just too hard with Claire not sleeping to convince me to do anything other than hang out. Forgive me, guys!
{We loved having them here (miss you guys already!) and can't wait to go up to SD over Labor Day. I think Caeden has already started the countdown.}
The Mirror
To see yourself in your children is somewhat surreal. Caeden is 3 and I am just now starting to see bits of me in him (mostly the eyes). His mannerisms are just like his Dad. He reminds me so much of Wayne in personality (always looking for the loophole) and looks (those lips!)
And there's Claire. For so long she's just been a skinny stick of a baby with sharp features. I was having a hard time figuring out who she looked like ... but she's up to around 10 pounds now (and just shy of 3 months old) and is starting to look more like ... ME. Last night I was giving her a bath and it was like looking into a mirror. So crazy and wonderful! I don't have a picture of her from last night, but here is one of last week (Grandma Koop holding her):
Genetics are fascinating.
In other news, I made the Andes cookies today. For my high altitude friends: decrease butter by 2 TBSP., add 1 more TBSP water and 3 TBSP of flour. They will come out perfect.
AND, get this: it is only going to be 60 degrees here this weekend! I am ready for fall - bring on the long sleeves and jeans, football, chili, and firepit weather. I am ready.
